Hello fellow students!

I am a career-long student. I have been through it all… from undergraduate school to graduate school to professional school.

I attended University of Southern California for undergraduate (Health Promotion and Disease Prevention) and graduate school (Global Medicine) and I am currently in Pharmacy School at Midwestern University Chicago College of Pharmacy.

Throughout my years of school, I have been able to find methods that work for me.

Through trial and error (many errors), I am now equipped with the tools necessary to survive school and I would love to share my knowledge with my fellow students.

Here are some tips:

1. The most important tool I have acquired is the tool of repetition. In order for me to fully comprehend a lecture, I must read it over and over again.

2. Not only do I re-read lectures, but I also take hand written notes as I read. (I also take hand written notes during lecture because that makes the information stick with me more than using a laptop). Studies have proven that writing something on paper, is more effective in memory retention.

3. When studying, I can refer to my notes when I’m in a time crunch. I feel as if this alone has saved me from failing many classes because of the depth each lecture contained.

Why have these methods worked for me?

Each time I would re-read a lecture, I would catch things that I overlooked in the previous rounds. I know this may be time consuming, but when the choice comes between time and grades, I think most people would go for grades.

"...but when the choice comes between time and grades, I think most people would go for grades."

With this simple technique, I have made the dean’s list every year. I have managed to understand the subjects I’m studying rather than just straight memorize.

I hope these techniques help you in your studying. If you have any questions, feel free to comment below. I love seeing my fellow peers succeed and am here whenever they need a soundboard!

Happy Studying!
